Avoid distractions

A gentle list of what pulls you away. Nothing is blocked.

Distraction support is a reminder, not a blocker. TaskDock does not block websites or apps, monitor what you open, or report on you.

The Avoid bar

At the bottom of the mini window is a compact bar:

  • Idle: Avoid distractions, followed by your usual list.
  • During focus: Avoid during this focus, showing the list chosen for that session.

Click it to open a small editor, without going to Settings. You can:

  • add a distraction (for example Social media or News),
  • rename it,
  • turn it on or off,
  • reorder the list,
  • delete it.

Changes are saved straight away. Esc closes the editor without hiding the window.

When you start focus

The start dialog pre-ticks only distractions that are turned on, so you are not carrying every item you have ever created into every session. Tick or untick for this session; your choice is remembered as your new default.

When you come back

If you reopen TaskDock while a session is running, a short reminder appears with:

  • your reminder message (editable),
  • the task,
  • the session's avoid list,
  • a Continue Focus button.

It appears once per session. If you set Reminder interval to a number of minutes, it can appear again after that long, never more often. Set it to 0 to show it once only.

Settings

Settings → Distractions holds the master switch, the reopen reminder, the message and interval, and the full list with the same editor. See the Settings reference.

The wording is deliberately calm: Keep going. rather than anything that scolds.
