Tasks and quick add
Capture fast, organise lightly, and pick what comes next.
Quick add
The field at the top of the mini window turns one line of text into a task. Parsing is local and deterministic: no servers, no AI. If a word is not recognised, it stays in the title.
Call Sam tomorrow 3pm /high #work @Clients
| Token | Meaning | Examples |
|---|---|---|
/low /medium /high /urgent | Priority (/med also works) | /high |
#tag | Tag. Use several. | #work #email |
@project | Project by name | @Clients |
today, tomorrow | Due day | tomorrow |
| a time | Due time, optionally after at | 9pm, 9:30pm, 21:00, at 5pm |
A time with no day means today. Only the first priority, project, day and time are used. If stripping tokens would leave no title, the whole input is kept as the title.
Example. Write report tomorrow 9am /urgent #work becomes the task Write report, due tomorrow at 09:00, urgent priority, tagged work.

Choosing what is next
Current task. You can have at most one. It is pinned in its own panel and is not repeated in the list below, so nothing appears twice. Clear returns it to the list. Done completes it.
Sort order. Settings → Behavior → Task order:
| Mode | Order |
|---|---|
| Smart | Highest priority first, then soonest due date |
| Manual | Drag to reorder |
| Due | Soonest due date |
| Priority | Highest first |
| Created | Newest first |
Completing, undoing and deleting
- Completing plays a short animation (a fraction of a second). The change is written to the database immediately. If writing fails, the task comes back with an error.
- An Undo toast stays for a few seconds.
- Deleting is a soft delete with undo. If the task has a running focus session, TaskDock asks first.
- You can archive tasks to hide them without deleting.
Recurring tasks
Completing a recurring task creates exactly one next occurrence. If a daily task is weeks overdue, the next occurrence is scheduled from today; you do not get a pile of missed copies. Undoing the completion removes the new occurrence.
Views
Today, Upcoming, Projects, Focus, History, Analytics and Calendar are in the full window. Upcoming lists future tasks only; overdue tasks stay in Today. Search is done by the database and handles large lists (tested with 10,000 tasks).
Press Ctrl + K for the command palette: search tasks, jump to a page, or add a task from whatever you typed.
Projects
Group tasks under projects. Deleting a project asks what to do with its tasks: move them to the Inbox, archive them, or cancel. Tasks are never deleted along with a project.
