FAQ
Short answers to common questions.
Is TaskDock free?
Yes. TaskDock is free to use, with no account, no login and no internet needed. It is not open source; see the End-user agreement.
Is it open source?
No. The source code is not published. The public GitHub repository only hosts the installers as releases.
Does it need the internet?
No. It never uses it.
Where is my data?
In %APPDATA%\app.taskdock.desktop\. See Data.
Can it sync between computers?
Not automatically. Use JSON export and import to move data. There is no cloud component.
Does it block websites or apps while I focus?
No. The Avoid list is a reminder only.
Why does Ctrl+Space not hide the window?
It is a summon shortcut: it always brings the window forward. Hide it with Esc, the X button, clicking away (if enabled), or the tray.
Why only one current task?
So there is never a doubt about what you are doing now.
Can I have several focus sessions at once?
No. There is one active session; starting another asks what to do with the current one.
Does it run on macOS or Linux?
The app is built and tested for Windows 10 and 11 only.
Does it update itself?
Not yet. Install a newer version over the top; your data is kept.
Is it signed?
Early releases are not code-signed, so SmartScreen will warn. See Installation.
Does it use AI?
No.
How much memory does it use?
It is built on Tauri and WebView2 to stay light. Measured figures will be published when they have been taken on real hardware.
