Installation

Requirements, installers, where files go, and uninstalling.

Requirements

  • Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit.
  • WebView2 runtime. It is included with Windows 11 and current Windows 10. The installer uses it; no separate download is normally needed.
  • Around 100 MB of free disk space for the app and its data.

Choose an installer

TaskDock ships two installers that install the same app.

InstallerFileGood for
NSIS setupTaskDock_<version>_x64-setup.exeMost people. Double-click and go.
MSI packageTaskDock_<version>_x64_en-US.msiManaged PCs and scripted installs.

The NSIS setup installs per user: no administrator rights are needed and other accounts on the PC are not affected. The MSI may ask for administrator approval depending on how your organisation deploys it.

SmartScreen warning

Early releases are not code-signed. Windows SmartScreen may show "Windows protected your PC" with an unknown publisher. This is expected for unsigned software. Choose More info, check the file name and size, then Run anyway. See Troubleshooting for details. When a signed release exists, the download page will say so.

Silent install (MSI)

msiexec /i TaskDock_1.0.0_x64_en-US.msi /qn

Uninstall

Use Settings → Apps → Installed apps → TaskDock → Uninstall. Your data folder is left in place so a reinstall picks up where you stopped. Delete %APPDATA%\app.taskdock.desktop yourself if you want it gone completely. Export a backup first if you might want it later; see Data, backup and import.

Updating

There is no automatic updater yet. Download the newer installer and run it over the existing install; your data is kept. Databases are upgraded automatically the first time the new version starts.
